First Design Steps – Career Counseling Marketplace

The first development iteration was a classic website-based marketplace where:

A special highlight of this version was a fully custom-built scheduling system, on par with Calendly, that made booking counseling sessions seamless.

This version was technically complete and functional. However, the client decided to focus their marketing strategy heavily on organic SEO growth. Instead of running the first version with paid ads, we shifted toward creating a platform that could generate large amounts of searchable content on its own.

BIG DATA Knowledge Hub – The New Direction

In the second iteration, the My Career Shop Knowledge Base was born. It contains thousands of unique pages and provides detailed information for over 1,000 careers, including:

Custom Website – Podcasts & Interviews as a Career Counseling Add-On

Career planning requires more than simply connecting counselors and clients. The platform itself had to deliver value and insight.

The podcasts and interviews allow users to hear directly from professionals about their real experiences, challenges, and career journeys. This helps job seekers gain a realistic picture of their chosen career and provides valuable guidance during the job search.

Behind the Scenes of Development

One of the biggest challenges for our team was managing such a massive dataset while keeping the website efficient and easy to use. In building and optimizing the platform, we had to consider
every aspect of
web development
: design, UX, SEO, and user experience.

The final version of My Career Shop is a strong, long-term sustainable platform.

Tech Stack

For design and frontend, we used the HeroUI (formerly NextUI) component library, the application was built on the Next.js framework, powered by Supabase on the backend, and hosted on Vercel.
